COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

SAF believes that community involvement and participation are important elements to bring sustainable changes in the society, thus leading to improvement in the health conditions and overall social and cultural wellbeing of the society. SAF through its IEC/BCC activities and programs makes sure that the concerned communities at their residential areas possess the required knowledge about the ongoing programs of SAF.  As a successful strategy, SAF mobilizes the community to be involved in specific activities and actively take part in the supervision of the services rendered by SAF.  Following this strategy SAF has been able to keep all Health facilities functional in insecure areas in Jawzjan, Saripul, Nimroz, Faryab and Ghazni provinces.

Currently, a total of 1345 community health workers (693 females and 652 male), 23 health committees and 636 family health action groups (FHAGs) are working with SAF in Jawzjan and Saripul province who are actively involved in specific activities related to BPHS implementation at the community level.
